Ideas for Scrapbook Designs

Picture-taking is now more popular than ever since a lot of people got their hands on their own digital cameras. There are so many pictures taken and developed but there are not enough picture frames to put them. A photo album seems like an old traditional idea but if you would like to give it a twist, here is a list of scrapbook ideas:

1)   Theme
Surely there are many occasions in your life and there are so many pictures for each occasion. What you need to do is to actually choose a theme for a certain scrapbook. For instance, birthdays, Christmas, childhood, college days, vacations, etc. Stick to that theme for the whole of the scrapbook to make it all cohesive.
2)   Embellishments
When you have chosen what theme you would want to have for the scrapbook, make sure that your embellishments will go with it. For instance, if your chosen theme was Christmas, make sure that the embellishments you picked out are related to Christmas too like Christmas trees, snowflakes, Christmas socks, Santa Claus and so on.
3)   Paper
Now you have to choose the paper. There are some scrapbooks that are already built-in and you can easily buy them in your leading bookstore. However, here is another scrapbook idea: if you want it personalized, you can get your own papers and bind them all together with wires or ribbons that you can buy from any store too.
4)   Layout
Once you have all the materials ready, the next thing you should do is put them all together. What you could do is lay them all out first in a page and then when you are content with the outcome, you can now paste it. In this way, you can easily alter the layout if you do not like the look of it.

Scrapbooking Layout Ideas

There are numerous layout ideas one can come up with when scrapbooking photos. Before one begins to scrapbook, they need to have an idea of what they want the scrapbook page to look like. Most people have a lot of pictures or memorable items from one event. These can be scrapbooked by placing numerous pictures on one page and this is easily done using a 12×12 page layout.

A nice idea for a layout includes using a 5×7 photo with a few smaller photos of all the same event, such as a child having fun on an amusement park ride. The larger picture can be placed at the top of the page, at the bottom, or along the side. The smaller pictures can then be placed opposite the 5×7. A film strip frame is a great way to frame the smaller pictures. Any memorable items such as ticket stubs can be placed on the page also. Phrases such as ‘Oh, what a ride!’ or ‘Joy Ride!’ can be placed on the page.

Another layout that would be great for a graduation page can include a large picture of the graduate, either in cap and gown or a senior picture, and smaller school pictures from grades kindergarten through 11th. Place the larger senior picture in the middle of the layout with the smaller ones, in chronological order, surrounding it. The pictures can either be more formal and straight, or for a whimsical touch, the pictures can be tilted throughout the page. Journaling could include a saying such as ‘Throughout the Years’ along with the child’s name and date along the top or bottom of the page.

If you are working on scrapbooking your wedding, then you might need some fresh ideas to infuse into your project. Of course, it is easier to collect memorabilia for your wedding scrapbook if your wedding is still in the planning stages. Even if you had your wedding over a decade ago, there is still a lot you can do with your scrapbook. Here are some ideas to get you started.

If you are not yet married, you have a great advantage in creating this scrapbook. If your wedding is in the future, have the photographer get pictures of the location. Try to have a few friends get some candid photos, as those are easier to scrapbook than formal photos. Keep as many mementos as you think can be scrapbooked. When collecting mementos consider something from your centerpieces and the flowers. Some confetti that was actually thrown by the flower girl will look adorable next to a picture of her throwing it.

Many people overlook the wedding prep and engagement when scrapbooking their wedding. This is where the scrapbook should begin. With the engagement, you could both tell the story of how he proposed. If you don’t have pictures of him popping the question, go back and take a photo of the location. Also include a photo of the ring. A great background for the page on dress shopping could be fabric that matches the fabric on your dress. Even just a scrap of lace will make a nice effect.

The main thing to remember with a wedding scrapbook is to let the photos be the star. Of course there will be fun extras, like the music to your favorite song behind a picture of you dancing to it. However, it is the actual memories that you want to remember. Portray those memories to the best of your ability and you will have a beautiful wedding scrapbook.
